I HAVE DECIDED

September 30, 2007

The question was:

Design, Pastry, or an Ivy League?

Because I want to combine the mastery of two and still be an alumni of the esteemed, THIS shall be my calling to greatness.

And also because the (rolling) pin is mightier than the sword!

I am hell excited about life now than ever before.

Today

… is her birthday. Happy birthday dear, though chances are minuscule for you to be reading this at all. For I have no other means to reach out to you.

I have prayed and will continue to pray, for you.

I should

September 26, 2007

1) stop talking about work
2) stop talking about work because it bores people
3) stop talking about work because some people find it boastful
4) decide soon if I should cut my hair
5) make my presence felt at home a lil bit more
6) leave for london
7) understand but I don’t
8) sleep

I miss

1) extra Curriculum Activities
2) reading something that stimulates my brain cells
3) discovering a new taste, be it on a main course or a dessert
4) shopping, yes, I MISS SHOPPING.
5) sports and having competition anxiety
6) or any form of physical activity for that matter
7) secondary school curshes that makes you do really stupid things
8) friends who are not so grown up
9) playing, because I grew up playing alot and it all stops when I became an undergrad
10) being challenged (creatively).

… quota, tariffs and blah blah blah.

Caffeinated Ears

September 24, 2007

Do you know that you’ll only fall asleep when your ears shut off

You can close your eyes for all you want but insomnia lingers until the ears decide to follow suit

That is why we use an alarm clock to wake us up, not some light flickering device (though that might work for some)

And last night I was hearing the ticking clock from dusk to dawn

Caffeine intake at 0000hr was not that wise after all

Yawn

Econs Test II

September 23, 2007

When I don’t want to do something that I am suppose to be doing, I go on a blogging-rampage.

And doing everything else but that.

So here, sharing the love (for procrastination) with you!

Gua kok susah banget si mau duduk baca buku…

Econs Test

blueme

“I’ve crossed the deserts for miles
Swam water for time
Searching places to find
A piece of something to call mine
I’m coming
A piece of something to call mine
I’m coming
I’m coming
Coming closer to you”

–’Pure Shores’, All Saints.

… econs test, econs test, econs test.

Graduating

Haruki Murakami wrote “… school trains one to deal with boredom.”

And when one starts to get really good at it, it’s time to graduate.

I am almost there, almost.

:)

1800-CALLING4IDEAS

I’m half way through my application to Istanbul for exchange and I am cracking my head on how to earn some pocket money while I’m there.

One that doesn’t require me to report to work (because I’ll be hoping from one train/plane/camel to another), perhaps one that’ll involve the laptop?

Or maybe I should bake and sell cookies but that would require an oven. Hostel? Oven? Perhaps not.

So yes, if you have any brilliant plan for me to earn some pocket money while I’m there, pls pls pls let me know.

Thank you!

Discussion Disaster

September 20, 2007

In Econs class,

Someone said that China’s competitive advantage is having no ethics and if that benefits its economy, by all means.

Bang.

FRUST.

I DON’T WANT A JOB WHERE I’LL BE AT THE RECEIVING END OF THE PYRAMID. SCREW YOU. FIND YOUR OWN DAMN HOUSE.

Design Geek

September 16, 2007

OMG. Because computer geeks have gotten enough lime light, core77 rolled out a list for the (industrial) designers!

Amongst my fav:

Pick-ups
“If you’ve got the form, I’ve got the function”
“Baby, God is in your details”
“I heard you’re in love with bamboo. I’m green with envy”
“If you’re interested in sustainability, ya, I’ve got sustainability”
“Sit on my lap. It’s ergonomic.”

Dumping
“I feel like we’ve prototyped this far enough, and now it’s time to call a sketch a sketch”
“Three-dimensionally, I think we’re solid. But the surfaces just aren’t resolved”

Musings.

Fasting Month

September 15, 2007

Last Thursday marks the first day of Ramadhan also known as the Muslim fasting month. And throughout these 30 days, Muslims in Singapore will have breakfast at 5am in the morning and abstain from food and water till the sun sets at about 7 pm in the evening (where we’ll break-the-fast).

For me, this is the month to detox oneself: physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. Physically is pretty easy but the latter few can be quite a challenge.

Someone posed me a rhetorical question “If God loves you, would he make you suffer?”

I would never have an answer to that though I did made an attempt.

“If God loves us, why would he invent mosquitoes?”

Perhaps man needs a lesson from Him. Through which He hopes we will learn to understand.

Rendevzous

Six shes and a Saturday night make a lost deal feels like a sneeze of a fuss

Amongst them…

She who shared her favorite book with me a decade ago, one that shapes my destiny in more miraculous ways than one

She whom I have learn to appreciate the company of her spirit that compliments mine

She who laughs at my (egg) joke when every one else fails to empathize

She who appeared like a shadow long overdue and brought peace back to the heart

She whom I have endless mindless pointless conversations with and will always do till death do us apart

…may we flourish beyond our wildest imagination, my ladies.

Truism

September 9, 2007

“Any hot girl who can aim a camera thinks she’s a photographer….”
Stewie on girl photographers, Family Guy.

Hahahahaha.

Climbing

This is a boy who had never fathom that he would even get to sip a glass of water in a restaurant. Growing up in a modest family made him a practical man. Never setting up too high a dream because the odds are usually leaning towards a one big disappointment.

But hardwork has always been his guiding force. And as he grew up he begins to savor the increments. Now that he finally graduated he finds himself propelling into the top percentile of the society. For many it would have been a dream to embrace, for him it seems to be too good to be true.

Where home is with utter chaos, he comes back each day to a pristine apartment, finds himself flying in business class, shaking hands that extend out from tailored suits, settling for nothing less than a deluxe.

He is learning to embrace reality yet he finds himself in deafening loneliness.

He misses home.

Pot Luck

He asked “Do you believe in lucky numbers?

And in the usual tradition I replied (with conviction) ” I believe in magic numbers; 9, 7, 13, 19, 23…”

As some of you might have heard, I was scheduled for an audition yesterday for a game of sheer luck. Having had an experience in auditioning for a broadcast program before, let’s just say I was much more relaxed this time around. They toughest code to crack still lies in knowing what is in the head of the producer. Unlike my first experience, this time I didn’t feel like I lost myself when I walked into the room and more importantly I actually was having fun during the interview.

I feel good.

But now the outcome will lie entirely on luck. So if you ask me if I believe in luck? Yes, many things are within our control, but there is a higher law that takes charge of it all.

The next two weeks will determine if there will be any drastic change of course for the next few years to come.

I am not all that anxious (I have learnt), but I am still curious nonetheless!

Artist’s Studio

September 7, 2007

Perhaps I have undermined every artist’s need to be honest to oneself

There is a common trait, an inevitable phase that breeds a compulsion to feel in order to create

Like a mandatory protocol to eventually be great

It saddens me now that I could no longer understand.

Art Indulge

This is one of the best short films (6 mins) I’ve ever seen. The variety of human emotions captured is subtle yet gripping.

This is an art.

Not because I am in love with Lena Headey.
