back to the future

i’m lying in a hotel room meant for two
attached is a bathroom without a loo
a few times i think of you
this independence i’m reacquainted to
this morning i crossed a border overland
there was a moment i stood in the middle of the two
to my right there lies the truth
to my left freedom to embrace
a potential place to make new home
four years seem like yesterday
i woke up knowing that there is only today

if this is what they call back to the future
i’m living like the 90’s all over again

to iran and its beautiful cities
from istanbul with love.
