Tamam

September 12, 2008

Today i learnt the turkish word for ‘ant’.
It was by far the hardest word for me to ask a turkish person. It goes from, oh you mean ‘end’, no ‘and’? what you mean?

Then pause… long pause. She waited for me to finish my sentence “and….”
By this time, it was such a laborious process there is no turning back. I HAVE TO FIND OUT what is ‘ant’ is in turkish.
Of course I could google it or use an online sozluk, but it was not about the meaning anymore.

Ant (the insect) in Turkish is KARINCA.

And we both celebrated the joyous occasion.
